ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In order to determine if a mass of rock or stone is solid or not, a mechanical stroke is delivered against the mass and with the aid of a sensor is ascertained if predominantly higher frequency or predominantly lower frequency waves have been generated. A device for carrying out this test method comprises an electronic circuit with a frequency analyzing part. The invention is particularly suited for determining if there are loose blocks etc. adjacent tunnels under construction, and/or if roof bolts are necessary and/or are correctly anchored.
