-18- ABSTRACT METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING A COLOURED BACKGROUND IN A TELEVISION PICTURE The method consists of displaying, as coloured background control variables, the brightness Y, the saturation S and the hue T which are desired and of deducing therefrom the coefficients of the primary colours red, green and blue by means of calculating and switching circuits. The function of the switching circuits is to choose, as a function of the hue signal, those of the signal supplied by the calculating circuits which will constitute the coefficients of the primary colours.
