ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE For distinguishing and separating field crops, parti- cularly potatoes, from clods of soil and stones these pie- ces are allowed to drop separately onto a sensor in which signals are induced, such signals characterizing the me- chanical impact and also magnetic properties of each piece These signals are analysed in an analysing circuit whereby stones are recognized by their impact signals of relative- ly high frequency while clods of soil are recognized by their typical magnetic properties. The analysing circuit transmits control signals to an ejecting device for eject- ing stones and clods of soil.
