The cone mass to be treated is divided into small batches of 10-100 kg, most advantageously 50-70 kg, and several batches are treated simultaneously individually with the aid of several independent unit processes containing heating and wetting in such a way that the batches are moved along a track, in which there are the aforesaid unit processes at regular intervals. The invention is also concerned with a corresponding apparatus.
