ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Dynamic brake force measuring means comprising a brake mechanism having a braking block. The braking block has a measuring member fixed to it at selected positions. The measuring member has two elastically deformable sections exten- ding from the positions where it is fixed to the braking block. These deformable sections are responsive to brake forces trans- mitted to them and deform in different directions to signify radial and tangential brake forces. Separate strain gauges on the sections provide a measure of these forces.
