A method and device are provided for implementing a dynamic End of Discharge Voltage (EODV) for rechargeable batteries and battery packs (batteries/packs). This dynamic EODV can be adjusted based on, for example, environment, operating conditions, temperature, residual capacity, cell chemistry, cell size, form factor, discharge rate, and/or the number of charge/discharge cycles the battery has undergone. The present invention can provide for enhanced run time from each discharge cycle of the battery/pack, for more accurate save-to-disk alarms, while ensuring adequate energy for the save-to- disk operation itself, and can also extend the useful life of the battery/pack.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour mettre en oeuvre une tension dynamique de fin de décharge (EODV dynamique) destinée aux batteries et aux blocs-batteries rechargeables (batteries/bloc-batteries). On peut réguler l'EODV dynamique en fonction, par exemple, des conditions de fonctionnement, de la température, de la capacité résiduelle, de la composition chimique des batteries, de la taille des batteries, du facteur de forme, de la vitesse de décharge et/ou du nombre des cycles de charge/de décharge subis par la batterie. La présente invention permet d'améliorer le temps de fonctionnement pour chaque cycle de décharge de la batterie/du bloc-batteries afin d'assurer une meilleure précision en matière d'alertes d'écriture sur disque et de fournir en même temps une énergie suffisante pour les opérations d'écriture sur disque proprement dites. L'invention permet également de prolonger la durée de vie utile de la batterie/du bloc-batteries.
