ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a method and apparatus for tree harvesting such as apparatuses which include a handling line consisting of one or more lopping knives, trunk pulling means, and optionally trunk cutting means, characterized in that the apparatus has a feeding and lopping knife which is prefer- ably rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis which enables the feeding or lifting of a tree over the turning axis of the lopping knife from a waiting space to the handling line above the space, the knife acting as a feeding member and being arranged to take part in the lopping of the tree together with other lopping knives which are employed for lopping only. The apparatus permits a tree fetching member to lead the larger end lower than in a conventional feeding system and furthermore, the levelling of variations in the speed of the handling line and fetching member. - 1 -
