A method and a device for fractionating component mixtures by chromatography or adsorption in a simulated fluidized bed having three, four or five zones. A compressor or a pump (K) is used to inject compressed gas as an eluent (IE, IR) at a pressure below the critical pressure of the gas. The gas has a compressibility coefficient substantially other than 1 throughout at least one, and preferably two zones, relative to the point of injection of the eluent (IR). A supercritical or subcritical fluid may also be injected as the eluent. The pressure between each of the zones may be modulated. The method and device may be used to separate crude oil fractions.

On décrit un dispositif et un procédé de fractionnement de mélanges de composants par chromatographie ou par adsorption dans un lit mobile simulé comportant trois, quatre ou cinq zones. On injecte par un compresseur ou une pompe K un gaz comprimé comme éluant (IE, IR), dont la pression est inférieure à la pression critique du gaz. En tout point d'au moins une zone et de manière préférée en tout point d'au moins deux zones, à partir du point d'injection de l'éluant (IR), le gaz présente un coefficient de compressibilité sensiblement différent de 1. On peut également injecter comme éluant un fluide supercritique ou un liquide subcritique. La pression entre chaque zone peut être modulée. Application à la séparation de coupes pétrolières.
