ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel device is provided for transferring heat to water. The device is used in conjunction with an open topped vessel adapted to contain water to be heated. A novel float energizer member is adapted to float on the surface of the water. The float energizer member comprises a cylindrical body open both at its top and its bottom, having a cylindrical peripheral wall and a median floor. A predetermined fixed-diameter peripheral escape aperture is provided in the cylindrical peripheral wall just below the union of the median floor and the cylindrical peripheral wall. This escape aperture serves to stabilize the float member and to permit escape of some of the gas which is trapped below the median floor. A knob is provided, preferably centrally located, atop the median floor, the knob being provided with a central longitudinal escape bore. This escape bore through the knob can be plugged with a plug having a selected different diameter longitudinal bore therethrough which communicates through the median floor to the ambient atmosphere. This escape bore through the knob thus can have different diameters. The purpose of this escape bore through the knob is to stabilize the float energizer member and to permit escape of some of the gas which is trapped below the median floor.
