An electromagnetic surveying method based on the detection of induced polarization effect and evaluation of its characteristics for mapping marine hydrocarbon targets, is characterized by a) the vertical deployment in a body of water (8) of at least one electric wire (2, 3, 3') which forms an electromagnetic transmitter which emits electromagnetic energy arranged to excite an electromagnetic field in the body of water (8) and underlying medium (83), the same wire (2, 3, 3') being used as a receiver for measurements of the vertical component of the electric field; the method including: b) providing survey data as the spatial distribution of the vertical component of the electric field and the medium response in the form of apparent resistivity versus time in the body of water (8); c) performing a space/time analysis of the vertical component of the electric field and response with the purpose of detecting induced polarization effect and d) mapping the anomalous zones.
L'invention porte sur un procédé de sondage électromagnétique sur la base de la détection d'un effet de polarisation induite et de l'évaluation de ses caractéristiques pour cartographier des cibles d'hydrocarbures marines. Le procédé est caractérisé par a) le déploiement vertical, dans une masse d'eau (8), d'au moins un fil électrique (2, 3, 3') qui forme un émetteur électromagnétique qui émet de l'énergie électromagnétique destinée à exciter un champ électromagnétique dans la masse d'eau (8) et dans un milieu sous-jacent (83), le même fil (2, 3, 3') étant utilisé comme récepteur pour des mesures de la composante verticale du champ électrique ; le procédé comprenant : b) la fourniture de données de sondage en tant que distribution spatiale de la composante verticale du champ électrique et la réponse du milieu sous la forme d'une résistivité apparente en fonction du temps dans la masse d'eau (8) ; c) l'exécution d'une analyse espace/temps de la composante verticale du champ électrique et de la réponse afin de détecter un effet de polarisation induite et d) la cartographie des zones anormales.
