Device and method for installing guide rails (10) in a lift shaft (1). Means (14) for lining up the guide rails (10) are used. A common support means (13) is used in order to line up the guide rails (10) as a composite. At least one coupling element (14) per guide rail (10) is provided in order to fasten the guide rails (10) to the support means (13). The common support means (13) is designed so that guide rail (10) on guide rail (10) can be fastened one after the other to the common support means (13).
