Method and device for manufacturing biaxially oriented tubing from thermoplastic material. The method comprises forcing the tube over a mandrel (3) at an orientation temperature of the plastic material, which mandrel comprises an expansion part (5) which produces expansion in the circumferential direction of the tube. Downstream of the mandrel and axial pulling force is exerted on the tube, and the biaxially oriented tube is cooled down. At a distance downstream of the mandrel the tube is drawn through a calibration opening (12) bounded by calibration means, the calibration opening being such that it produces a reduction in the external dimensions of the tube. Accurate regulation of the external dimensions of the tube is provided by regulating the distance between the mandrel (3) and the calibration means (12), in particular depending on the external dimensions of the tube measured downstream of the calibration means.
Procédé et dispositif de fabrication d'un tube à orientation biaxiale à partir d'une matière thermoplastique. Le procédé consiste à faire passer le tube sur un mandrin (3) à une température d'orientation de la matière plastique, ledit mandrin comportant une pièce de dilatation (5) provoquant une dilatation du tube dans le sens circonférentiel. On soumet le tube à un effort axial de traction en aval du mandrin, puis on refroidit le tube à orientation biaxiale. On fait passer le tube par un orifice de calibrage (12) délimité par un ensemble de calibrage et situé à une certaine distance en aval du mandrin, l'orifice de calibrage étant tel qu'il provoque une diminution des dimensions externes du tube. Une régulation précise des dimensions externes du tube est obtenue par régulation de la distance comprise entre le mandrin (3) et l'ensemble de calibrage (12), notamment en fonction des dimensions externes du tube telles que mesurées en aval de l'ensemble de calibrage (12).
