ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for use in measuring sound for recording sound quantities above at least one selectable sound level, which comprises sensing sound and convert said sound into an electric signal, causing the electric signal to activate at least one circuit having an activation level specific for the circuit and corresponding to the selected sound level, for activating a radiation generating element forming part of the circuit, allowing radiation flux given off by the radiation generating element to actuate a recording ele- ment relating to each circuit and detecting and integrating the radiation flux, said element showing at the end of the measuring a value corresponding to the sensed sound quantity above the said activation level. The present invention also provides a device for use in measuring sound for recording sound quantities above at least one selectable sound level, said device comprising an element adapted to convert a sound into an electric signal, at least one circuit arranged to supply the electric signal and having a level detector settable for activation at selectable reference levels and corresponding to the desired sound levels, and a radiation generating element which is adapted to be activated when the set reference level of the level detector is exceeded, each radiation generating element being correlated to a recording element separately detecting and integrating its radiation flux, whereby values of the sensed sound quantity above the said reference level and consequently of the said sound level are obtained.
