A method and a device for preventing overstabilization of longitudinal differential protections in case of internal faults on power lines, which may take place when a fault situation, which is indicated as an external fault, is in reality an internal fault. The invention comprises criteria which finally provide information as to whether the longitudinal differential protection is to enter into operation. The criteria comprise level and directional determination of the currents which are measured in the terminals of the power lines, checking whether these have the same direction, and so on.

Procédé et dispositif empêchant la surstabilisation de circuits de protection différentielle longitudinale au cas où il se produisait des pannes internes dans les lignes de courant, et qui pourrait avoir lieu lorsqu'une panne indiquée comme étant externe est en réalité une panne interne. L'invention utilise des critères qui fournissent des informations indiquant si le circuit de protection différentielle longitudinale doit être activé ou non. Ces critères comprennent la détermination de la polarité et du niveau des courants mesurés dans les bornes des lignes de courant, et permettent de vérifier s'ils présentent la même polarité notamment.
