A known method exists for producing a composite nonwoven from at least one carded nonwoven and a wood pulp layer placed on said carded nonwoven, for producing a hygiene product. According to this method, the carded nonwoven is hydrody--namically needled before the pulp layer is applied in order to increase the resistance of the nonwoven. However this means that the nonwoven is wet when the pulp layer is applied. The moisture is disadvantageous for the circulation and therefore, the distribution of the pulp. The carded nonwoven still has to be consolidated in order to achieve sufficient resistance to wear by friction. According to the invention, this problem is solved by subjecting the carded nonwoven to action by air or calendering the carded nonwoven before it is coated with the super-absorbent material in order to pre-consolidate said carded nonwoven. The wood pulp layer is applied and the two are then consolidated together by hydrodynamic water needling and dried. This may be followed by additional calendering.

Procédé de fabrication d'un non-tissé composite à partir d'au moins un matelas de fibres cardé et d'une couche de pâte à papier déposée sur ce matelas de fibres, pour la fabrication d'un produit d'hygiène. Selon ledit procédé, le matelas de fibres est aiguilleté de manière hydrodynamique avant le dépôt de la couche de pâte, pour augmenter les caractéristiques de résistance dudit matelas. Mais il en résulte que lors du dépôt de la couche de pâte, le matelas de fibres est mouillé et l'humidité est néfaste pour la circulation et, partant, pour la répartition de la pâte. Une consolidation du matelas de fibres cardé est cependant nécessaire du fait que la résistance à l'usure serait sinon insatisfaisante. Pour résoudre ce problème, le matelas de fibres est soumis à de l'air sous pression ou calandré, avant d'être enduit à l'aide d'une matière superabsorbante en vue de la préconsolidation, puis la couche de pâte à papier est déposée, et les deux couches sont d'abord fixées ensemble par aiguilletage hydrodynamique à l'eau, puis séchées. Un second calandrage peut ensuite être effectué.
