The invention relates to a method and device for the reduction of particulate forming vapours in gases. The method comprises passing the gas stream through at least one channel (12) that has a wall temperature that is lower than the condensation temperature of the vapour, that has a hydraulic diameter (Dh) satisfying the condition that Dh<[24/(N.pi.do)]1/2, where N is the number of nuclei present in the gas stream and do is the initial diameter of the nuclei.
