A preform (3) for use in making a container such as a bottle from a thermoplastic material is selectively heated prior to at least one step of blow moulding or stretch-blow moulding the heated preform. For this purpose, at least most (7A) of the radiation (4) transmitted generally towards the preform (3) by a source (1A) is focused (8) onto a preferred area (A) thereof, said source being located substantially opposite said preferred area (A) of the preform, whereby said preferred area (A) receives most (7A) of the radiation (4) while the areas adjacent to the preferred area (A) do not receive the radiation fraction initially transmitted towards them by the source.

L'invention concerne le chauffage sélectif d'une préforme (3) destinée à la fabrication d'un récipient, tel qu'une bouteille, en une matière thermoplastique, par au moins une étape ultérieure de soufflage ou d'étirage-soufflage de la préforme chaude; à cet effet, on focalise (8), sur une zone privilégiée (A) de la préforme (3), au moins la plus grande partie (7A) du rayonnement (4) émis, approximativement en direction de la préforme (3), par une source (1A) située sensiblement en regard de ladite zone privilégiée (A) de la préforme, ce grâce à quoi ladite zone privilégiée (A) reçoit la plus grande partie (7A) du rayonnement (4) tandis que les zones avoisinant ladite zone privilégiée (A) ne reçoivent pas la fraction du rayonnement initialement émis par la source dans leur direction.
