The invention concerns a method for smoothing divided solid materials such as powdery products, powders and granules, deposited in the form of uniform or irregular heaps on a substantially horizontal support and mobile in the forward direction, characterised in that: said substantially horizontal support (10 or 100) is driven in an oscillating reciprocal motion, said motion being applied uniformly over said support whole width; and the support is tensioned or prestressed substantially in the forward direction.
