An improved method and an improved device for the contact-free transmission of data from and/or to a plurality of data or information carriers (9) are characterized by the following features: After the exchange of information between a read and/or write device (1) and a data or information carrier (9), said carrier is switched to a standby impedance mode (Z4) in order to reduce undesired interaction with data or information carriers (9) adjoining the antenna field, said mode differing from an initial impedance mode (Z1) and communication impedance modes (Z2, Z3) during the emission of an information signal from the data or information carrier (9).
