Abstract In a method for the control of brake fluids with regard to the decrease of their boiling point by addition of water, an electrically driven heater element with comparatively small dimensions is introduced in to the brake fluid. The fluid surrounding the heater element is heated up to partial boiling, where the temperature of the heater element is kept on a constant value by the partial boiling. The electrical resistance of the heater element at this constant temperature is used as a criterion for the boiling point of the brake fluid, and the drop below the nominal value of the boiling point is indicated.
