Flat articles (5) are gathered into stacks (9) by conveying stacks in production successively along a gathering route (1) past feed stations and by adding one article to each stack in every feed station. The stacks (9) in production are conveyed on stack supports (2) with supporting surfaces (7). The supply direction of the articles comprises a component parallel to the stack conveyance direction and the supporting surfaces (7) are advantageously arranged not in parallel to the gathering route (1). The articles (5), each respectively gripped by a holding element (4) on one of their edges (5.1), are conveyed along a supply route (3) to the feed station. The supply route (3) traverses the gathering route (1) at the feed station. The articles (5) are inserted between successive stacks (9) or stack supports (2) respectively e.g. from above with their leading edges (5.1) held gripped. The gripped edge is released from being held by deactivation of the holding element (4), when it has reached the lower zone of the stack supports (2). The released article is then positioned on the upstream or downstream stack (9) or stack support (2) by the force of gravity and/or by its own inertia and the holding element (4) is conveyed onwards in downward direction. A gathering operation of this kind is e.g. suitable for establishing dispatch units made up of different printed products. It allows very compact gathering arrangements, which, with reasonable conveying speeds, allow gathering with high performance capacities. Furthermore, gathering of articles with very different formats is possible without any problems.
Les articles plats (5) sont groupés en piles (9) en transportant automatiquement et successivement les piles en production le long d'un parcours d'assemblage (1) devant des postes d'alimentation, et en ajoutant un article à chaque pile à chacun des postes d'alimentation. Les piles (9) en production sont transportées sur des supports de piles (2) dotés de surfaces de support (7). La direction d'alimentation des articles comprend un composant parallèle à la direction de transport de la pile et les surfaces de support (7) sont avantageusement disposées dans une direction autre que parallèle au parcours d'assemblage (1). Les articles (5), qui sont respectivement agrippés par un élément de retenue (4) sur un de leurs bords (5.1), sont acheminés le long d'un parcours d'alimentation (3) au poste d'alimentation. Le parcours d'alimentation (3) croise le parcours d'assemblage (1) au poste d'alimentation. Les articles (5) sont insérés entre des piles (9) successives ou des supports de piles (2) successifs, respectivement. Par exemple, d'en haut, avec leur bord avant (5.1) agrippé. Le bord agrippé est relâché quand l'élément de retenue (4) est désactivé lorsqu'il atteint la zone inférieure des supports de piles (2). L'article relâché est alors mis en place sur la pile en amont ou en aval (9) ou sur le support de pile (2) par gravité ou par son inertie propre. L'élément de retenue (4) poursuit alors son chemin vers le bas. Une application d'assemblage de ce type est idéale, par exemple, pour assembler des unités d'expédition composées de différents produits imprimés. Elle permet de grouper des articles de façon très compacte, ce qui, avec des vitesses de transport raisonnables, permet l'assemblage à capacité élevée. De plus, il est possible de grouper des articles de formats très différents sans problème.
