A method for performing security screening at a checkpoint is provided. The method includes providing an X-ray imaging system having a scanning area and providing a supporting device for supporting articles to be scanned in the scanning area, wherein the supporting device has at least two reference areas manifesting respective X-ray signatures when exposed to X-rays, the X-ray signatures being distinguishable from one another. The method further includes placing an article to be scanned on the supporting device, introducing the article to be scanned in the scanning area while the article is supported by the supporting device and using the X-ray imaging system for deriving the X-ray signatures of the reference areas and for obtaining an X-ray image of the article while the supporting device is in the scanning area. The method further includes using the X-ray signatures to derive X-ray attenuation information from the X-ray image and using the X-ray attenuation information in determining if the article is a security threat.
L'invention porte sur un procédé pour effectuer un filtrage de sécurité à un point de contrôle. Le procédé comprend la disposition d'un système d'imagerie à rayons X comportant une zone de balayage et la disposition d'un dispositif de support pour supporter des articles devant être balayés dans la zone de balayage, le dispositif de support comportant au moins deux zones de référence présentant des signatures aux rayons X respectives lorsqu'elles sont exposées à des rayons X, les signatures aux rayons X pouvant être distinguées l'une de l'autre. Le procédé comprend de plus le fait de poser un article devant être balayé sur le dispositif de support, l'introduction de l'article devant être balayé dans la zone de balayage pendant que l'article repose sur le dispositif de support et l'utilisation du système d'imagerie à rayons X pour déduire les signatures aux rayons X des zones de référence et pour obtenir une image aux rayons X de l'article pendant que le dispositif de support se trouve dans la zone de balayage. Le procédé comprend de plus l'utilisation des signatures aux rayons X pour déduire des informations d'atténuation de rayons X à partir de l'image aux rayons X et l'utilisation des informations d'atténuation des rayons X pour déterminer si l'article est une menace à la sécurité.
