To detect by means of a long-baseline system the global bending strain of a structure (1), i.e. by detecting the accumulated local bending strains over a distance of at least two metres, detection lines (8, 11), preferably optical fibre lines, which indicate the extent of their elongation by an increased attenuation of the light pulses which run through them, are used. To detect the direction and the extent of the flexure of the structure (1), the latter is closely associated with a model comprising a matrix (13) which follows the flexural bending strains of the structure (1), and at least one, preferably two detection lines (8, 11) suitably located in the matrix cross-section so that their elongation variations and/or the differences between their respective elongation variations are indicative of the flexure of the model, which gives indications on the flexure of the structure (1). The invention is useful in determining the straight or distorted flexure or contraflexure of structures not easily accessible or partially inaccessible, to measure level variations on one or several axes.

Pour détecter en base longue la déformation globale d'une structure (1) c'est- à-dire par détection du cumul des déformations locales sur une distance d'au moins 2 mètres, on utilise des lignes de détection (8, 11), de préférence à fibre optique, qui indiquent leur degré d'allongement par un amortissement croissant des impulsions lumineuses qui les traversent. Pour détecter le sens et l'ampleur de la flexion de la structure (1), on associe à celle-ci de manière intime un modèle comprenant une matrice (13) qui suit les déformations de flexion de la structure (1), et au moins une, de préférence au moins deux lignes de détection (8, 11) convenablement placées dans la section de la matrice (13) pour que leurs variations d'allongement et/ou les différences entre leurs variations d'allongement respectives soient indicatives de la flexion du modèle, laquelle donne des indications sur la flexion de la structure (1). Utilisation pour déterminer la flexion, la contreflexion, pures ou gauches, d'ouvrages difficilement accessibles ou partiellement inacessibles, mesurer les nivellements et les tassements, etc...
