An electronic business payment system is provided which provides secure anonymous payment of charges between a seller and a purchaser. The details of the sales transaction are related to a transaction key and the payment is processed only by being related to the transaction key . In this fashion, the seller receives confirmation of payment, but does not need to know any details concerning the purchaser. The purchaser is thus able to make anonymous purchases without needing to provide details concerning, for example, details of the credit card used for payment. An electronic business payment system with improved security features over the prior art is thereby provided.
