Le procédé comprend une étape (S2) de commutation intercellulaire d'une communication établie avec un mobile à partir d'un premier canal (F0, IT3) associé à une première station de base (BTS(n-i)) vers un second canal (F0,IT3) qui est associé à une seconde station de base (BTS(n)) et qui est identique audit premier canal. Il est caractérisé en ce que ladite étape de commutation intercellulaire (S2) est précédée par les étapes de sélection dudit premier canal (F0, IT3) de telle sorte que le second canal (F0, IT3) qui lui est identique soit libre dans la seconde station de base (BTS(n)), et commutation intracellulaire (Si) de ladite communication à partir d'un canal courant (F3, IT2) vers ledit premier canal sélectionné (FO, IT3), lesdits canaux courant et sélectionné étant tous deux associés à ladite première station de base (BTS(n-1)).
