The invention relates to a method and installation for separating sulfur dioxide out of waste gas, whereby the waste gas is subjected to the action of salt water in an absorption tower, and the salt water loaded with sulfur compounds is drawn out from the liquid bottom of the absorption tower and is subjected to the action of fresh salt water. In order to eliminate the need for very expensive and large secondary reaction basins as required by the prior art, the invention provides that the liquid containing bisulfates is drawn out from the liquid bottom of the absorption tower and, for the purpose of forming sulfates and adjusting the pH (neutralization), is subjected to the action of fresh salt water in a line. The invention is based on the finding that the formation of sulfates and the adjustment of the pH are completed after a reaction time of 1 to 2 minutes. This makes it possible to eliminate the need for a large and expensive secondary reaction basin.

L'invention concerne un procédé et une installation pour séparer le dioxyde de soufre contenu dans des effluents gazeux, ces effluents gazeux étant soumis à l'action d'eau de mer dans une colonne d'absorption et l'eau de mer chargée en composés de soufre étant retirée du fond à liquide de la colonne d'absorption et soumise à l'action d'eau de mer fraîche. L'objectif de l'invention est qu'il ne soit plus nécessaire d'utiliser les bassins de réaction secondaire très chers et grands de l'art antérieur. A cet effet, il est proposé que le liquide contenant des bisulfates soit retiré du fond à liquide de la colonne d'absorption et, pour la formation de sulfates et l'ajustement du pH (neutralisation), soumis à l'action de l'eau de mer dans une conduite. L'invention est fondée sur le fait que l'on sait que la formation de sulfates et l'ajustement du pH sont terminés après un temps de réaction d'1 à 2 min. Il est ainsi possible de renoncer à l'utilisation de bassins de réaction secondaire grands et chers.
