Selon l'invention, afin d'éviter des contraintes thermi- ques néfastes de la chambre de combustion (3) et éviter la pro- duction et la remontée de vapeurs dans la partie supérieure de la chambre (16), on maintient, après arrêt commandé des brûleurs (1), la ventilation (7) à l'air de l'installation au moins pen- dant un temps suffisamment long pour assurer le refroidissement adéquat des parois de la chambre de combustion (3). L'invention s'applique à toutes les installations utili- sant des brûleurs à combustion submergée. Figure 2.
