To determine the biological activity of protein S in a sample of human plasma, the suitably diluted sample is added to a substrate formed from plasma deficient in protein S, in which protein C is activated. The functionality of protein S is evaluated by a coagulometric test using bovine thromboplastin with added calcium as the phospholipid source.

Pour déterminer l'activité biologique de la protéine S dans un échantillon de plasma humain, on ajoute l'échantillon adéquatement dilué à un substrat formé à partir de plasma présentant une carence en protéine S et dans lequel la protéine C est activée. La fonctionnalité de la protéine S est évaluée par analyse coagulométrique utilisant la thromboplastine bovine avec addition de calcium, comme source de phospholipide.
