This method makes a stopper (1) from a tubular skirt (12) suitable for enclosing a neck of a container and provided both with means of permanent retention around the neck and means of removable attachment to the neck. The method involves moving, relative to each other, the skirt and a blade (110) in rotation about the axis (X-X) of the skirt in such a way that the blade cuts into the skirt a peripheral weakening line comprising through slots and, between these slots running around the periphery of the skirt, breakable bridges which connect, in the axial direction, a non-removable part of the skirt that has retention means, to a removable part of the skirt which has means of attachment. In order to improve the method in a simple and economical manner, the skirt and the blade are rotated relative to each other around an angular path strictly greater than 360° while gradually modifying the relative axial position between the skirt and the blade by an axial translation (T). The weakening line thus assumes the form of a helix whose two extreme ends define between themselves a non-breakable segment that permanently connects together the removable and non-removable parts of the skirt.

Ce procédé permet de fabriquer un bouchon (1 ) à partir d'une jupe tubulaire (12) apte à entourer un col de récipient et munie à la fois de moyens de retenue à demeure autour du col et de moyens de fixation amovible au col. Suivant ce procédé, on entraîne l'une par rapport à l'autre la jupe et une lame (110) en rotation autour de l'axe (X-X) de la jupe de telle sorte que cette lame découpe dans la jupe une ligne périphérique d'affaiblissement comprenant des entailles traversantes et, entre ces entailles suivant la périphérie de la jupe, des pontets frangibles qui relient, suivant la direction de l'axe, une partie non amovible de la jupe, munie des moyens de retenue, et une partie amovible de la jupe, munie des moyens de fixation. En vue d'améliorer de manière simple et économique le procédé, on prévoit d'entraîner en rotation la jupe et la lame l'une par rapport sur une course angulaire strictement supérieure à 360° tout en modifiant progressivement la position axiale relative entre la jupe et la lame suivant une translation axiale (T). La ligne d'affaiblissement présente ainsi la forme d'une hélice dont les deux extrémités périphériques délimitent entre elles un brin non frangible reliant en permanence les parties amovible et non amovible de la jupe.
