A method of detecting inflammatory processes comprises (a) administering per- orally or per-rectally a composition comprising a diagnostically effective amount of L-[guanido-15N2]-arginine, L-[guanido-15N]-arginine, their mixtures and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; (b) collecting a sample of exhaled air, saliva or urine; (c) determining 15NO in the air sample or its transformation products 15N- nitrite and/or 15N-nitrate in the saliva sample or urine. Also disclosed is a corresponding diagnostic composition for use in diagnosing inflammatory processes and a method for its manufacture.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de détecter des processus inflammatoires. Ce procédé consiste (a) à administrer, par voie orale ou rectale, une composition comprenant une quantité efficace d'un point de vue diagnostique de L-[guanido-?15¿N¿2?]-arginine, de L-[guanido-?15¿N]-arginine, de leurs mélanges et de leurs sels acceptables d'un point de vue pharmaceutique, ainsi qu'un support, acceptable d'un point de vue pharmaceutique; (b) à collecter un échantillon d'air expiré, de salive ou d'urine; (c) à détecter ?15¿NO dans l'échantillon d'air ou ses produits de transformation nitrure ?15¿N et/ou nitrate ?15¿N dans l'échantillon de salive ou dans l'urine. La présente invention concerne également une composition diagnostique correspondante, utilisée pour le diagnostic de processus inflammatoires, ainsi que son procédé de production.
