20TR-1234 METHOD AND MEANS FOR RETAINING COILS IN DYNAMOELECTRIC MACHINES A method of retaining electromagnetic coils in a plurality of parallel slots in a ferromagnetic core and the resultant product thereof, which involves placing flexible members of non-conductive fibrous material oriented transverse to the length of the associated slot and impregnated with a thermally curable resin on top of insulated conductors that are disposed in internal sections of the respective core slots, applying pressure to externally exposed portions of the flexible members to push the same into the core slots and thereby to seat the conductors in the internal sections of the core slots, and thereafter thermally curing the resin so that said members become rigid wedges for closing the slot openings and firmly locking the insulated conductors in place.
