The invention provides a method of producing continuous laminated veneer board by gluing and pressing in a hot press several layers of an extra- wide veneer sheets billet, assembled above each other and in succession. Before entering the hot press, the veneer sheet billet assembled from extra-wide veneer sheets is provided with steam escape joints by means of one or more longitudinal cuts, thus being divided into two or more veneer sheet billets whose width can vary. The longitudinal cuts are made as determined by the majority of the widths into which the finished laminated veneer board is divided. The invention also relates to equipment for carrying out the method.
