A method and mobile filling station for filling of insulating glass (IG) units is designed to be simple, reliable, low in cost, flexible in operation, improving the productivity of filling process and decreasing the number of IG units destroyed during the filling process. The mobile filling station is built-up as a system of independent modules, each module being used for filling of an IG unit. Each module includes a filling gas detector able to detect the presence of any filling gas used in IG units filling process, a control system of the filling process and a monitoring system of the main parameters of the filling process, being used for any filling gas and any number or dimensions of IG units to be filled-up independently and at the same time. To eliminate damages of the IG units due to of a difference between the pressure of inner space of the IG unit and the atmospheric pressure, the inner pressure of the IG unit, during the filling process, is maintained equal to the atmospheric pressure or, if necessary, corrected to compensate the difference of the two pressures due to the altitudes of the future location of the IG unit. The mobile filling station has an ergonomic construction and like this the operational time and effort are reduced. Since the entire process is fully automatic no trained personnel is needed. The insulated glass units are not manipulated during the filling process. The modules to control the filling process are concentrated in a mobile filling station
