A method and a mold-closure device suitable for tie-bar less molding machines such as plastics injection and die-casting presses of horizontal and vertical type. The press comprises an open frame (60) with end posts (61, 62) integral with or connected to the press frame (60). One post (61) is provided with a stationary platen for supporting a first member (63) of a mold, and a movable platen (65) for supporting a second member (64) of the mold. A mold-closure device comprises first control means (67) to displace the movable platen (65) and the second mold member (64) to approach the stationary member (63) of the mold, and second control means comprising pressure actuated membrane (68) seated between abutting surfaces of the frame (60) of the press. High clamping forces and sealed condition at the closure of the mold (63, 64) are obtained by positively causing an elastic deformation of the press frame (60).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de fermeture de moule conçu pour des machines de moulage sans colonne de presse, telles que des presses de moulage de plastique sous pression et par injection, de type horizontal et vertical. La presse comprend un cadre ouvert (60) pourvu de montants d'extrémité (61, 62) formés d'un seul tenant avec ledit cadre (60) ou reliés à celui-ci. Un montant ( 61) est pourvu d'une plaque porte-moule fixe destinée à porter un premier élément (63) de moule, et d'une plaque mobile (65) destinée à porter un second élément (64) de moule. Un dispositif de fermeture de moule comprend un premier organe de commande (67) permettant de déplacer la plaque mobile (65) et le second élément (64) de moule afin de l'approcher de l'élément fixe (63) du moule, et un second organe de commande comprenant une membrane (68) soumise à une pression, placée entre des surfaces adjacentes du cadre (60) de la presse. On obtient des forces de serrage élevées et une fermeture hermétique du moule (63, 64) par déformation élastique positive du cadre (60) de la presse.
