ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a connecting rod or the like having a body comprising a connecting rod shank and at least one connecting rod end portion wherein a bearing sleeve element of hardened steel is arranged, the internal wall of said sleeve element forming the bearing surface, characterized in that said end portion is unitary, the bearing sleeve element comprises an integral ring having concentric internal and external surfaces fixed in said integral connecting rod end portion cast therearound, and the connecting rod end portion and shank comprise a unitary casting of non-ferrous metal.
