The present invention relates to a method, a protocol and a control unit for managing devices in a Personal Area Network (PAN) (100) such that a user of the PAN can use one of his devices and take advantage of services residing in any of the other devices in the PAN (100). The devices in the PAN are defined as either PAN controller devices (200, 210) or PAN auxiliary devices (250) depending on if the devices have user interfaces suitable for controlling a PAN. When the PAN is managed according to the invention, the PAN controller devices (200, 210) and the PAN auxiliary devices (250) communicate with each other via short-range communication means (201, 211, 251) to exchange each other's PAN related information such that PAN related information is synchronized in the network. At least the PAN controller devices (200, 210) store received updated PAN related information from the other PAN participants such that the user can see an updated picture of the PAN on the PAN user interfaces (202, 212). Any of the PAN controller devices (200, 210) can then be used to control the other PAN participants via commands and messages of the invention. Figure for publication.
L'invention concerne un procédé, un protocole et une unité de commande permettant de gérer des dispositifs dans un réseau personnel (PAN) (100) de sorte qu'un utilisateur de ce PAN peut utiliser l'un de ses dispositifs et profiter des services résidant sur l'un quelconque des autres dispositifs du PAN (100). Les dispositifs du PAN sont définis soit comme des dispositifs de contrôleur PAN (200, 210) soit comme des dispositifs auxiliaires PAN (250) selon que ces dispositifs comprennent des interfaces utilisateur appropriées pour commander un PAN. Lorsque le PAN est géré selon l'invention, les dispositifs de contrôleur PAN (200, 210) et les dispositifs auxiliaires PAN (250) communiquent les uns avec les autres via un organe de communication (201, 211, 251) faible portée afin d'échanger entre eux des informations relatives au PAN de sorte que ces informations sont synchronisées dans le réseau. Au moins les dispositifs de contrôleur PAN (200, 210) stockent des informations reçues mises à jour relatives au PAN provenant des autres participants PAN de sorte que l'utilisateur peut voir une image mise à jour du PAN sur les interfaces utilisateur (202, 212) du PAN. L'un quelconque des dispositifs de contrôleur PAN (200, 210) peut ensuite être utilisé pour commander les autres participants du PAN via des commandes et des messages de l'invention.
