A method for determining airflow in a portion of a respiratory tract comprising determining a total acoustic energy in a region of a body surface overlying the portion of the respiratory tract. The airflow may be integrated over a time interval in order to determine an air volume that has flowed in the portion of the respiratory tract during the time interval. A graph of the flow rate as a function of the volume may be displayed and analyzed as in spirometry. The invention also provides a system (100) for carrying out the method.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour déterminer un flux d'air dans une partie des voies respiratoires, qui consiste à déterminer l'énergie acoustique totale d'une région de la surface du corps, superposée à la partie des voies respiratoires. Le flux d'air peut être intégré à un intervalle de temps de manière à déterminer un volume d'air qui s'est écoulé dans la partie des voies respiratoires pendant l'intervalle de temps. Un graphique de la vitesse d'écoulement, prise en tant que fonction du volume peut être affiché et analysé comme une valeur spirométrique. L'invention concerne aussi un système (100) pour mettre en oeuvre ledit procédé.
