A method and apparatus for triggering procedures to handover an ongoing communication session between a mobile station (MS) and a correspondent node (CoN) from via a first network of a first type to via a second network of a different type. Communication session continuity is maintained by transferring communication session context information when a handover is imminent from a network component in a first network path to a network component in a second network path, and by forwarding downlink and uplink signals via the network components in both the first and second network paths until the ongoing communication session can be established via the second network path. The context information includes the session communication parameters, such that the second network path can allocate resources and establish routing between the MS and the CoN.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un appareil permettant de déclencher des procédures destinées à transférer une session de communication en cours entre une station mobile (MS) et un noeud correspondant (CoN) d'un premier réseau d'un premier type à un second réseau d'un type différent. On préserve la continuité de la session de communication en transférant les informations de contexte de la session de communication, lorsqu'un transfert est imminent d'un composant réseau d'une première voie réseau à un composant réseau d'une seconde voie réseau, et en transmettant les signaux de la liaison descendante et de la liaison montante via les composants réseau à la fois dans la première et la seconde voie réseau, jusqu'à ce que la session de communication en cours puisse être établie via la seconde voie réseau. Les informations de contexte contiennent notamment les paramètres de communication de la session, pour que la seconde voie réseau puisse attribuer des ressources et établir un routage entre la station mobile MS et le noeud correspondant CoN.
