The invention concerns a method for cooling a fused bath electrolytic cell (1) for aluminium production which consists in producing droplets of a coolant (or divided coolant), preferably in a confined volume in contact with a specific surface of at least one wall of the pot shell (2) of the electrolytic cell (1), so as to cause all or part of said droplets to be evaporated by contact with said surface and in removing said heat from said surface. The invention also concerns a cooling system (100) for implementing the cooling method. The invention enables highly efficient cooling through the latent heat of the coolant evaporation.
L'invention a pour objet un procédé de refroidissement d'une cellule d'électrolyse ignée (1) pour la production d'aluminium dans lequel on produit des gouttelettes d'un fluide caloporteur (ou « fluide caloporteur divisé »), de préférence dans un volume confiné en contact avec une surface déterminée d'au moins une paroi du caisson (2) de la cuve de la cellule d'électrolyse (1), de manière à provoquer l'évaporation de tout ou partie desdites gouttelettes par contact avec ladite surface et à prélever de la chaleur de ladite surface. L'invention a aussi pour objet un système de refroidissement (100) apte à mettre en oeuvre le procédé de refroidissement. L'invention permet d'obtenir une efficacité du refroidissement élevée grâce à la chaleur latente de vaporisation du fluide caloporteur.
