A combination Electronic Article Surveillance/Radio Frequency Identification ("EAS/RFID") tag and method and system for deactivating said combination EAS/RFID tags without the need to physically contact the tag with a deactivation device. The EAS/RFID tag replaces the conventional diode with a non-linear device such as a capacitor with a given breakdown voltage threshold. The introduction of a predetermined voltage across the capacitor results in destruction of the capacitor rendering the EAS/RFID tag undetectable in the interrogation systems.
L'invention porte sur une étiquette de surveillance d'article électronique/identification par radiofréquence ("EAS/RFID") de combinaison et sur un procédé et un système de désactivation de telles étiquettes EAS/RFID de combinaison sans nécessité de mettre l'étiquette en contact physique avec un dispositif de désactivation. L'étiquette EAS/RFID remplace la diode classique par un dispositif non linéaire tel qu'un condensateur avec un seuil donné de tension de claquage. L'introduction d'une tension prédéterminée aux bornes du condensateur conduit à la destruction de celui-ci, rendant l'étiquette EAS/RFID indétectable pour les systèmes d'interrogation.
