A mailing system includes a computer system having a sender terminal and a receiver terminal and adapted to transmit a mail item from the sender terminal to the receiver terminal. A printer device in the receiver terminal is adapted to print a mail item from the sender terminal in a document including coded data thereon, the coded data including an indication of the identity of the mail item and at least one reference point on the document. A sensing device is arranged to communicate to the computer system indicating data from the sensing device, the indicating data including information regarding the identity of the mail item and at least one action of the sensing device in relation to the document generated by the sensing device using at least some of the coded data, whereby the computer system can generate a second mail item using the indicating data from the sensing device.

Ce système de courrier comporte un système informatique pourvu de terminaux d'expédition et de réception et conçu pour transmettre au terminal de réception un courrier émanant du terminal d'expédition. Ce terminal de réception comporte une imprimante imprimant un courrier émanant du terminal d'expédition sous forme de document renfermant des données codées, lesquelles données codées comportent une indication relative à l'identité du courrier et au moins un élément de référence sur le document. Un détecteur est conçu pour communiquer au système des données indicatives qu'il a produites, lesquelles données indicatives renferment une information relative à l'identité du courrier et au moins une action dudit détecteur en relation avec le document qu'il a produit à partir d'au moins quelques unes des données codées, ce qui permet au système informatique de créer une second courrier à l'aide des données indicatives émanant du détecteur.
