Current bilateral BAHA configurations, for sounds directly facing a listener, apply forces to the skull that are in-phase with each other and directed towards the center of the head. The head's response approximates that of a rigid body at frequencies < 1000Hz, thus it is preferable to drive bilateral BAHAs such that when one pushes, the other pulls. Adjusting the relative phase offset of BAHAs, achieves this, resulting in greater vibration and improved hearing.
