ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus for automatically compensating brakinq pressure in a failed set of braking members of a system having at least two sets of braking members with each set having two braking circuits through which braking pressure is applied. A single actuating member operates simultaneously on the two cir- cuits of each brake set in response to separate brake pressure detecting apparatus connected to each braking circuit. In the event of failure in one circuit with subsequent pressure loss, the pressure detecting apparatus of that circuit operates the actuating member to apply a predetermined increased pressure in the operational braking member of the failed set which tends to equalize the braking effect of all sets of braking members.
