A process and system is disclosed for accessing a multimedia document composed of a tree of objects (OA, OB) from access machines (ZM) based on different platforms. The objects (OA, OB) are stored in a server (DS) in a platform- independent programming language (JAVA). The stored objects (OA, OB) contain information on the control of the dynamic behaviour of the respective objects. The objects (OA, OB) are transmitted through a communication network (N) from the server (DS) to an access machine (ZM) where they are translated by an interpreter from the platform-independent programming language into the language of the access machine (ZM).

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant l'accès à un document multimédia composé d'un arbre d'objets (OA, OB). Cet accès doit être possible depuis des moyens d'accès (ZM) différents du système d'exploitation. Dans un serveur (DS), les objets (OA, OB) sont mémorisés dans un langage de programmation (JAVA) indépendant du système d'exploitation. Les objets mémorisés (OA, OB) contiennent des informations relatives à la commande du comportement dynamique de chaque objet. Les objets (OA, OB) sont transmis à l'un des moyens d'accès (ZM) par le serveur (DS) par l'intermédiaire d'un réseau de transmission (N) et sont ensuite traduits dans le langage machine du moyen d'accès (ZM) par un programme d'interprétation prévu pour le langage de programmation indépendant du système d'exploitation.
