A method and a system for encrypted transmission or authentication between at least two units via an insecure communication channel, comprising the steps of: (a) in an initiation procedure, producing a common original value to be used in the respective units; (b) synchronising a counting value in each unit; (c) generating a key on the basis of the original value and the counting value in each unit, independently of other units; and (d) using the thus generated keys in a subsequent encrypted transmission or authentication operation.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système de transmission chiffrée ou d'authentification entre au moins deux unités via un canal de communication non protégé. Ce procédé consiste à : (a) lancer une procédure d'initiation pour obtenir une valeur initiale commune destinée à être utilisée dans les unités respectives ; (b) à synchroniser une valeur de comptage dans chaque unité ; (c) à générer dans chaque unité, indépendamment des autres unités, une clef sur la base de la valeur initiale et de la valeur de comptage ; et (d) à utiliser les clefs ainsi générées lors d'une transmission cryptée ou une authentification consécutive.
