A method of marking individuals of commercially distributed organism or organisms and offspring thereof is disclosed. The method is effected by genetically marking a plurality of individuals of the organism or organisms with a plurality of unique DNA sequences, each of the unique DNA sequences includes a variable region, so as to produce artificial, inherited and detectable genetic variability among the plurality of individuals of the commercially distributed organism or organisms.

L'invention concerne un procédé de marquage d'individus d'un organisme ou d'organismes et de leur descendance distribués commercialement. Ce procédé consiste à marquer génétiquement une pluralité d'individus de l'organisme ou des organismes avec une pluralité de séquences d'ADN uniques, chacune des séquences d'ADN uniques comprenant une région variable, de manière à produire une variabilité génétique détectable héritée et artificielle chez la pluralité d'individus de l'organisme ou des organismes distribués commercialement.
