A method of processing a digital image using colour vector signals, comprising forming a histogram of the colour vector signals and analysing the histogram to identify clusters of colour values. Once this is done, groups of adjacent or touching clusters are merged and each colour value in the merged clusters is mapped to a single palette entry, in order to remove noise.

L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'images numériques à l'aide de signaux de vecteurs de couleur, consistant à former un histogramme des signaux de vecteurs de couleur et à analyser cet histogramme pour identifier des groupes de valeurs de couleurs. Ensuite, les ensembles de groupes adjacents ou en contact sont combinés et chaque valeur de couleur dans les groupes combinés est associée à une entrée de palette unique, dans le but d'éliminer le bruit.
