The traditional way for a client to obtain a legal document is for the client to contact a lawyer often through referral or advertising. This method of obtaining legal documents is inappropriate in cases where the client wants a simple legal document which does not require a great deal of consultation time or where the client simply wants an assessment of the costs involved. From the lawyer's perspective, it is inefficient because the method of gathering the information is labour-intensive and time is wasted interpreting the client's legal needs in cases where the client may elect not to proceed. The present invention provides a method for producing and delivering legal documents over the Internet while maintaining solicitor/client privilege, by providing a web site linked to lawyers by legal practice area and jurisdiction, who receive and reply to client document requests through the web site.
