The invention concerns a method for managing and using an item (IBL) file (FC) in an information space of data stored in a database and capable of being classified in accordance with a plurality of classifying systems (CL1, CL2). Said method comprises for each item (IBL) several assigned classification codes (C1, C2) pertaining each to a classification system (CL1, CL2). It further comprises steps which consist in: assigning to each item (IBL) the property of constituting the smallest common part among different attributed classification codes; attributing to each item (IBL) a unique code (DFCC) which is particular to it; detecting those items (IBL) derived from the item file, which are related to n codes of n classification systems.

Procédé pour gérer et utiliser un fichier (FC) d'items (IBL) dans un espace d'informations stockées dans au moins une base de données et pouvant être classées selon une pluralité de systèmes de classification (CL1, CL2). Ce procédé comprend pour chaque item (IBL) une attribution de plusieurs codes de classification (C1, C2) appartenant chacun à un système de classification (CL1, CL2). Il comprend en outre les étapes consistant à: affecter à chaque item (IBL) la propriété de constituer la plus petite partie commune entre différents codes de classification attribués; attribuer à chaque item (IBL) un code unique (DFCC) qui lui est propre; détecter ceux des items (IBL) issus du fichier d'items, qui sont liés à "n" codes de "n" systèmes de classification.
