A method and system is disclosed for optimizing resource management in wireless communication systems (300) wherein resources in neighboring and serving cells (304) may be reassigned so that fragmentation may be reduced in serving cells. Resources in wireless communication systems (300) are preferably managed to minimizing fragmentation and where fragmentation can not be reduced based on current resources allocations, resources may be assigned to allow fragmentation to be reduced.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant d'optimiser la gestion de ressources dans des systèmes de communication sans fil (300), lesdites ressources dans des cellules de service voisines (304) peuvent être réattribuées de telle façon que la fragmentation peut être réduite dans les cellules de service.
